OMEGA 3-6-9 DMI is an ultra-concentrated formula based on fish oil, evening primrose oil and flaxseed oil with a high content per softgel of essential omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids (min. 149.4 mg of ALA, 59.76 mg of EPA and 39.84 mg of DHA), omega-6 unsaturated essential fatty acids (min. 36.52 mg of linoleic acid, 33.2 mg of GLA), omega-9 unsaturated fatty acids (min. 36.52 mg of oleic acid) and Vitamin E (3.35 mg).
Omega-3 long-chain unsaturated fatty acids called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are essential nutrients for growth and development, and are involved in brain, heart and vision normal function. They also have a beneficial effect on inflammatory processes.
At cardiovascular level, omega 3 fatty acids acts as vasodilator and antiplatelet agent (through prostaglandin E3), increasing fibrinolytic activity. They also decrease the viscosity of the blood, and the blood pressure in normotensive and mild hypertensive patients. Omega 3 fatty acids plays an important role in prevention of arteriosclerosis, since they decrease the levels of triglycerides and low and very low density lipoproteins, LDL and VLDL respectively.
By replacing saturated fat with unsaturated fat in the diet, it helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. Omega-3 fatty acids present in these softgels provides unsaturated fats.
ALA is an essential fatty acid which must be provided with diet intake due to the body is not able to synthesize it. ALA helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. EPA and DHA are formed from ALA. However, the metabolic conversion of ALA to DHA and EPA is very limited in humans, so the most direct way to provide EPA and DHA to the body is through direct intake of them, mainly through blue fish oils. EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart. They also help to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. DHA helps to maintain normal brain function and vision function under normal conditions.
Linoleic acid is an essential omega-6 unsaturated fatty acid which helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an essential omega-6 unsaturated fatty acid which has an important mission in the body, since it is the precursor of eicosanoids, leukotrienes, prostaglandins (mainly PGE1) and thromboxanes, which are mediators cells that have a regulatory role in general metabolism by intervening in a multitude of physiological processes: vasodilator activity, antiplatelet agents, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, antithrombotic and cholesterol-lowering activity. GLA helps to reduce premenstrual syndrome symptoms and climacteric disorders, being used as an antidismenorrhea and an hormonal system regulator. It also has an emollient action on the skin.
Oleic acid helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. It is an omega-9 unsaturated fatty acid which exerts a beneficial action on blood vessels by reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, since it helps to increase the levels of high-density lipoproteins HDL in the body, which are mainly responsible for remove excess LDL.
Vitamin E contributes to protect cells against oxidative damage. This high antioxidant capacity makes it participate in the protection against free radicals and UV radiation. Helps to slow premature aging and keep cell membranes stable.
